AuraGlass 4.0 release notes
AuraGlass 4.0 completes a package-wide visual-hardening pass with neutral-glass token enforcement, accessibility story-quality gates, and independently auditable certification evidence.
#What 4.0 ships
AuraGlass 4.0 is the visual-hardening and certification release. The authoritative inventory now identifies 470 visually renderable component exports, one explicitly nonvisual public export, and 28 package recipes. Every one of the 498 visual-gate targets passed the final full audit with zero blocked entries.
The release preserves the public package boundaries established in 3.x while tightening the material, token, Storybook, accessibility, and responsive-layout contracts underneath them.
#Neutral glass is the default contract
The 4.0 sweep removes unintended color casts and one-off surface literals from default component rendering. Glass backgrounds, borders, highlights, overlays, and depth effects now resolve through the reviewed token and material layers so components remain neutral until a product explicitly asks for semantic or branded tint.
Theme and persona APIs remain available for deliberate brand expression. The difference is contractual: decorative tint is no longer allowed to leak into a supposedly neutral default surface.

}#Accessibility and Storybook quality are release gates
New quality checks audit meaningful accessible names, interactive story coverage, component state presentation, and copy-safe documentation examples. The Storybook visual certification remains independently inspectable, while the expanded runtime audit covers every renderable public export and recipe.
Responsive layout and token-purity tests now fail on unsafe fixed geometry, uncontrolled overflow, disallowed raw visual values, and component styles that bypass the generated design contract.
#Self-contained typography tokens and a cleaner runtime
AuraGlass 4.0 ships a self-contained typography token scale across display, body, and monospace roles so the package never needs an external font request at runtime.
The final runtime-cleanliness audit scanned 760 source files and found no console, debugger, or TODO leakage. The glass pipeline completed 31 of 31 checks without failures or warnings.
#Upgrade path to 5.0.2
AuraGlass 5.0.2 supersedes this release line. Install `aura-glass@5.0.2`, run the 4to5 codemod, keep `aura-glass/styles.css` at the application root, and run the CLI doctor before visual review. See the 5.0.2 release notes on this site for the current contract.
Because 4.0 deliberately tightens default materials and typography, review local surface overrides, custom tint assumptions, dense layouts, and screenshot baselines as part of the upgrade.
npm install aura-glass@5.0.2
npx aura-glass-cli migrate 4to5 --dry-run
